Guideline list

The success of an AIM management plan relies on its efficiency and sustainability, for both surveillance and control activities. Designing, planning, and implementing these activities requires an understanding of AIM species’ biology, MBD pathogen transmission risk, and surveillance and control methods and techniques, in order to combine and adjust them in a local context and in a cost-efficient approach. Therefore, guidance is crucial to build up the understanding of every protagonist, and numerous supporting guidance documents are available in Europe and beyond.

Within AIM-COST we aim at (1) Identifying the various guidelines documents that are used in the perspective of monitoring/surveillance and control of AIMs in Europe and neighbouring countries; (2) Assessing the perception of their usefulness, limitations, gaps, and needs; (3) Gauging the appropriateness of dissemination tools and document versions for different audiences.

A questionnaire-based survey [link to the questionnaire report] performed in 2019 did allow the identification of 62 different guideline documents, of which 27 are scaled for the international level, 27 for the national level, and 8 for the local level.

Here we provide the list of documents in an Excel sheetlinks to all documents, and all documents themselves as pdf in the document folder, including an original English summary for those that are written in a different language and do not already contain an English summary.

Any reader that uses or knows a guidance document that is not listed here (in particular local ones) and wishes to share it with the community is invited to submit that document to Francis Schaffner, WG1 leader.
